Day 24: Twisted Oak Rum Barrel Aged Red Ale (Redrum)

Merry Christmas Eve! A very special day deserves a very special brew...

The Story:
We thought long and hard about which beer we should use to wrap up this very special advent calendar, and ultimately decided that if Santa was in the brewers seat, he would probably choose this very special seasonal release from the Twisted Oak Stillage Series.  Brewed fiery red, just like the old guy's suit, this brew ages in select rum barrels imported from distillers in the Carribean.  The maturation phase endows the Red Ale with an almost Christmas-like toffee flavour and brightens the colour to a cheery copper colour.  Round and sweet, this beer has the delicate complexity and richness to bring a rosy glow to any craft beer lover's face.  Allow to warm to 10C before opening this final present.

We hope you had as much fun following along on our little beer adventure together. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good pint!

Tasting Notes:
Pours a bright copper colour with a slight, pillow-white head.  This full-bodied red ale is matured in freshly emptied rum barrels where soft malt notes are wrapped in velvety sugarcane sweetness.  Flavours of soft toffee are underpinned with notes of subtle rum and finish sweet.

Availability:
Twisted Oak Rum Barrel Aged Red Ale is now exclusively available in this Snowcase Pack!

  1. Thanks so much for a fun way to celebrate every day heading to Christmas! I looked forward to seeing what I'd get each day. I have a few new favourites to look for now. Today's beer is one of them. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  3. Thank you so much Phillips for this Christmas treat! I loved the Snowcase and hope you do this again next year (even though I have no idea how you will top this). Opening the Snowcase each day gave me a reason to get up during each dark December morning (so I could refrigerate each beer for an after work treat). My favourite days were #1 and 4, but enjoyed the entire case. Well done and Merry Christmas.

  4. A very pleasant end to the epic Phillips Snowcase. Sad to see the Surly Blonde Belgian not make an appearance. Already looking forward to next year.
