Day 14: Longboat Chocolate Porter

This is the closest we'll get to the traditional advent calendar.

The Story:
In 2004 we had moved into our second location and the added space allowed us to begin to experiment with new styles and ingredient combinations.  Now whether it was unfulfilled childhood yearnings, or secretly held aspirations to actually live out Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory nobody is really willing to admit; but regardless of motivation, chocolate was seized upon as one of first ingredients to play with, and when it was combined with a well-roasted, full-bodied porter, magic really did happen.  No golden ticket required, just twist the cap.

Tasting Notes:
Pours a deep brown colour with a tan head. An aroma of chocolate predominates with subtle coffee notes.  Its velvety smooth mouth feel is complemented by a light nut-roasted bitterness and bold chocolate flavour.

Availability:
Longboat Chocolate Porter is available year-round in 650mL bottles.

  1. I was able to get home just for midnight to get this one in time. Satisfying end to a long day.

  2. I really wish this was available in smaller bottles year round- a 650mL is way too much to finish in one go, so I very rarely get to enjoy this amazing porter. If it was in regular small bottles I'd buy 6 packs all the time!
