Day 10: Phoenix Gold Lager

One of our longest-standing brews, Phoenix Gold Lager has quite a history...

The Story:
Phoenix Gold Lager is one of our longest-standing brews.  Debuting back in 2003, it was originally released in the infamous 'stubby' bottle.  Phoenix also prompted the first move of our brewery as one night Matt returned to his windowless apartment above a fabrication shop (where he lived and brewed) to find a Phoenix flood coming down the stairs to greet him at the door.  One of the fermenting tanks had ruptured and the landlord, unimpressed with the mess, decided not to renew the lease when it came due.  There was a silver...or golden...lining to this cloud though, as the next location offered more space to experiment and eventually launch the seasonal beer program...plus it had windows.

Tasting Notes:
Phoenix gold lager pours a rich, golden colour with a creamy white head. The nose has fresh grassy aromas with subtle floral notes. This beer showcases a rich round sweetness with a crisp dry finish.

Availability:
Phoenix is available in 6 packs of 341mL bottles.

  1. Always the classic. This crisp golden lager is the first Phillips beer I ever had. I quickly got hooked on Blue Truck shortly after. I salute you stubby Phoenix

  2. I have been wondering... is this beer named after the early Phoenix brewery in Victoria?
